Bagels & Barbeque: The Jewish Experience in Tennessee
From the First Jewish immigrants in the 1770s to the 21st century, the Jews of Tennessee have played a major role in the life and culture of the state. Bagels & Barbeque tells the story of the culture, heritage and traditions of local Jewish communities. The exhibit has been expanded at the Pink Palace to tell the story of Jewish influence on Memphis icons as diverse as Elvis, Christmas, baseball, food and fashion.
February 6 through April 11.
Bagels & Barbeque: The Jewish Experience in Tennessee is a joint project of the Tennessee State Museum in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, Jewish Community Federation of Greater Chattanooga, Knoxville Jewish Alliance, and Memphis Jewish Federation, with the participation of other Jewish communities around the state. The exhibit's statewide tour is supported in party by a grant from Humanities Tennessee, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
