Palace Museum Visitor Evaluations Internship

Department: Exhibitions

Dates: August 27 – December 5, 2018 (15 weeks)

Hours: 10 hours a week, 9 am – 5 pm, Monday thru Friday

This is an unpaid position.


 An intern will utilize best practices to create survey evaluations to gauge visitor responses to Pink Palace exhibits (specifically the newly renovated Mansion, Memphis Bicentennial exhibit, and other temporary exhibits). The goal of the surveys is to determine overall visitor satisfaction, collect suggestions, and record reactions to technology, interactions, and other methodologies present in the exhibit galleries.

Responsibilities include:

 Creating surveys to measure visitor responses to content, design, and overall experience at the Pink Palace Museum in the permanent and temporary exhibit galleries

 Developing methodology to test the surveys in exhibit galleries

 Testing the surveys in exhibit galleries


 Experience developing and/or administering surveys

 Ability to analyze and organize quantitative and qualitative data

 Ability to navigate data analysis using PSPP (comparable to SPSS) or Microsoft Excel software

 Strong oral and written communication skills

 Comfortable with large groups of people and one-on-one interaction

 Graduate student with background in museum studies, statistics, communication, and/or any combination of academic and work experience in the required area
