According to the laws of Tennessee, it is illegal to rehabilitate native wild animals without a permit from the state. An additional federal permit is required to rehabilitate birds. It is illegal to possess native wildlife as pets
Lichterman Nature Center does not maintain state or federal rehabilitation permits. As a result, the Nature Center cannot accept any live or injured animals.

Admission to Lichterman Nature Center is free to public on Tuesdays from 1:00 until closing.

Lichterman Nature Center is closed to the public Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
