JOB TITLE: Special Events Coordinator
SERVICE CTR: Lichterman Nature Center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Operations Supervisor/Lichterman Nature Center (LNC) to meet specific revenue goals by successfully recruiting and executing fee-based rentals. Trains and supervises assigned guest services staff to receive visitors and staff rental events. Actively markets, recruits and negotiates rentals to meet the revenue goal, including working with various internal and external resources for potential renters, preparing promotional materials on LNC rental services, and preparing monthly attendance and revenue reports. Establishes and oversees conformance to rental policies and performs follow-up evaluations of LNC rental services with renters.
Coordinates special events at the LNC such as donor and member events, facility rentals, and volunteer functions: schedules and plans events in advance, including planning set up and clean up of event, coordinating with LNC and museum system departments that may be affected, and establishing a budget for each event; produces fundraising events, including recruiting sponsors, preparing invitations and letters of recognition, and organizing all aspects of the event's program; coordinates with caterers, entertainment groups, rental companies, and other vendors to ensure that resources are available for events.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer and a telephone. Requires bending, stooping, and lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs. such as catering supplies and audio-visual equipment to prepare for events.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment and outdoors in various locations around the LNC. Some off-site work may be required at Pink Palace Family of Museums related facilities. Must be able to work nights and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field and one (1) year of experience planning and coordinating special events or any combination of experience or training, which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Experience in sales preferred. Must have a valid Tennessee Drivers License.
