Fab Fridays coming in October

TGIF! Fab Fridays coming October 5th

The Pink Palace Museum will now be open Friday nights for laser light shows and giant screen movies. “We are inviting folks to make their Friday night destination for fun the Pink Palace Museum with our new Fab Fridays,” said Bill Walsh, Marketing Manager at the Pink Palace Family of Museums.

“We haven’t been open on Friday evenings for years and thought Friday nights would be a great opportunity to show off our new laser light projection system and giant screen movies on a night when many people typically go out for entertainment. We’re calling it Fab Fridays,” said Walsh.

Following a highly successful laser light show test run in March, the Pink Palace Museum purchased a hi-tech laser light projection system for its AutoZone Dome Sharpe Planetarium.

The new Skylase projection system is specifically designed for planetarium domes and features brilliantly colored astronomical imagery and animations. With high-speed optical scanners for deflections of laser beams and a fish eye lens for incredible projection angles, the Skylase system creates a multi-sensory experience.

“The laser light show test run in early spring was a big success.  Our Friday laser light shows for Pink Floyd, the Beatles and a rock compilation Laser Vinyl were all sell outs. That success spurred the idea for Fab Fridays,” said Walsh.

Fab Fridays will begin October 5th with a Halloween-themed laser light show Fright Light and giant screen movies including classics Bride of Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Other laser light shows for October will include Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Laser Metallica.

Beer, wine and eats will be served at Metro Eats inside the Museum during Fab Fridays. “Our hope is that people will keep the Pink Palace in mind when looking for Friday evening entertainment… where else can you see a planetarium laser light show, watch a movie and grab a bite to eat?”
